The woman is sitting at her mirror, reflecting on current events. How she has changed over the last years..but really has stayed true to her principles. She knows that something is wrong..and she can usually tell what will happen when things go wrong. Especially in the shadows she's in and the ones that surround them. But not this time. She feels the dread but not the reason why. And that disturbs her more than anything else, at this time. The unknown is a stranger to her.
She is genuinely surprised when the young woman steps out of the mirror. She casts no reflection through it, and yet she is there. Fiona had no warning of her presence, save for the dread that sometimes accompanies her. Well. If she is here to take her..she will have a fight on her hands.
"Relax, Sorceress of Amber. You have quite a while yet before you have to worry about me."
Fiona lowers her hands, which were instinctively extended in her most powerful defensive spellweaving gestures. She smiles slightly as she studies her visitor. She is a little taller than Fiona….thinner as well..with bone white skin and that strange egyptian eye makeup. Wearing a black dress, somewhat stylish..and that silver ankh. Every representation of her seems to share that symbol. Her hair is unkempt and she matches Fiona's stare with her own. Even Fiona would not dare match her mind toi hers..but she does think about it.
"What can I do for a living personification? Hopefully, you aren't here for any more of my family..accept that damnable Brand."
"That would be telling, my dear. Actually, I'm here to discuss someone a little more closer to your heart. Your son, Xander."
"Xander? He's a neophyte and a novice. Barely a threat to anyone. How could he possibly be a concern to a being of your nature."
"He's utilizing a certain power to intefere in my duties…causing disruptions, slight as they are..and these small diversions will add up into some real concerns soon. In other words..he's stickin his nose in my bussiness and causing me to fuck up. It has to stop. One way or the other."
Fiona looks at her hands…she saw this coming, but didn't think he had gotten quite this far. She knows that Death is right.
"So. You are going to take him then… eradicate his exsistence. If thats what has to be done.."
"Waitasecond. I'm not a total cold bitch… and he is kinda cute. Theres an alternative, if you are game."
"And that would be?"
"Put him away for a while…someplace where his power will do him no good. Place him under one of your spells and make him stop. After a century or two of doing nothing..I think he will see the logic of my position and stop screwing with my scheduling."
Fiona looks at the seemingly young woman..who is actually one of the Endless. She knows that Death would not lie to her..and the fact that she is being given a choice means that the Fates would want her to take what was offered. She smiles at Death..and Death winks back.
"I thank you for your graceful mercy, Dark Lady. I will look into this immeadeately. I promise you..he won't interfere with you again."
"Don't promise that, Fiona. Sometimes I need a kick to my complacency. Just make him stop for a while. And give him a kiss from me."
"That I will. I shall leave right now. Please..give my regards to your brother, Morpheus."
"I shall, sorceress. Until next time..which will be a very long time from now, I hope."
She smiles…and her form begins to disappear..until for a moment, only the ankh and her eye is seen in the inky darkness. Then she is gone..with only her laughter to mark her fading presence.
Fiona gets up and stretches, sighing in relief that no battle with Death was needed. Xander has gone slightly farther than Fiona thought..and that would never have happened if she wasn't distracted by Amber's current problems. She already had the tracking and entrapment spell memorized. With a wave of her hand, she was gone….she thought of Xander and how his exsistence almost caused her to fight one of the most powerful beings in any exsistence. He would indeed be punished..and then some.
